A little place called The Shire

"My dear Bagginses and Boffins, Tooks and Brandybucks, Grubbs, Chubbs, Hornblowers, Bolgers, Bracegirdles and Proudfoots!." Bilbo Baggins' speech at his 111th birthday party

Last summer I spent half of my sunday experiencing the Shire for myself. It took 1.5 hours driving from Auckland to Matamata, to the location of the Hobbiton movie set and farm. The tour package was nzd60 for the movie set only, I know its a bit expensive for an hour tour but it was worth the trip! I've read almost every books by J.R.R. Tolkien, the famous one is The Lord of the Ring Trilogy, but my all time favorite goes to The Silmarillion.

When arriving at the scene, there will be a small shop to buy the package tour, there are also LOTR posters, maps, cards, and all such knacks. Then, there will be a bus to pick and drop you up to the movie set. The driver will ask you three questions about the movie, until you reach the spot. There will be two tour guides, telling stories and guiding you along the way.

Astonished, I felt like i was in the movie, the set was so real, the hobbits' house were colorful and the land of the Shire was covered with greens, and so I took pictures all the way, I don't want to miss one ha!
